The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences.
Whilst our classrooms teaching is vital for our children, we also appreciate the importance of extra-curriculur activities which can often be an aspect of school we remember fondly as adults. At South View we aim develop the whole child and the additional activities, clubs and experiences we offer are considered as important aspects of our work.
Pupil Play Leaders are responsible for organising games & activities and encourage participation in the games during lunchtime. The Buddy Bus stop is a place where children can go when they are feeling lonely others including the Play Leaders then come over to be with them and invite them to play.
South View has a number of sports teams across the year groups. Sports teams have represented our school in sports such as:
Visitors to school
We welcome visitors to school to support the children's learning. We have a regular number of volunteer reading mentors who read with a number of children on a weekly basis. South View aims to include visitors who will enhance the curriculum by holding curriculum days, such as 'Fire of London Day' or 'Celebrating Hinduism' where children not only learn about religious aspects, but are immersed into the culture, learn to dance and experience wearing a bindi.
Please look at the Children's page section & your child's year group gallery for pictures of the events they take part in.
Every year we celebrate Grandparents Day and both Mothers and Fathers Days by hosting Grandparents' breakfast and Mothers' & Father's Day lunches, which is an opportunity for relatives to visit the school and share with the children.
To support their learning in class, children will attend educational visits. Below are some of the places we have visited.
Houses of Parliament
Leicester Space centre
Natural History Museum
South View aims to provide a varied extracurricular programme for all pupils who wish to participate. Extracurricular activities are after school from 3.15 pm - 4/4.15 or 4.30pm
Extracurricular clubs vary from term to term, and a timetable (also attached below) is sent to parents at the beginning of each term giving details of all clubs available for that half-term. Information is also provided on how to sign up for the club of your child’s choice either via our slip system (to avoid double booking) or our online booking system.
Additional clubs are run by outside providers and are booked directly with them. The booking details are included in our attachments at the bottom of the page.
Please note that children are expected to behave politely and sensibly, as they are in school. In the case of serious misbehaviour, non-payment or persistent late collection, the school reserves the right to withdraw access to the provision.
